Peg is a Leeds UK based TV and Radio presenter and reporter, Motivational Speaker and Writer. She is colourful, sussed and knowledgeable . An eternal optimist with a real love for life, who is all about people, their stories and what makes the world go round.
As a speaker, she combines over 20 years experience working in campaigns, politics and the public and charity sector with her life experience, which, like herself, has often been colourful and not exactly what she had planned!
In a nutshell, Peg has battled with being overweight most of her life. As she approached 40 she lost nearly 8 stone which she has kept off ever since. Peg feels so strongly that young people, especially girls, are under unbearable pressure about their looks and as a result Peg talks about how to have a positive, healthy body image and a good relationship with food.
Peg has also had a very successful career (once the youngest political ‘leader’ in the UK, heading up major initiatives and running charities, and written government policy) but thanks to the austerity cuts found herself facing unemployment in her early 40's. At the same time she had to face the fact that she would not be a mother. So decided to start again. Peg started volunteering and learning new skills. Peg took off with her husband to spend a year backpacking around the world and they returned to the UK different people with even more aspiration and vision. In the first year Peg had got paid work in her new desired career - as a broadcaster, even landing her own TV show and her husband has set up his own business.
When it comes to making life work for you, Peg tells students they need to work hard, work without fear, at times work for no money, and work resiliently. And lastly but not least to have have fun in life!
