Of Irish, English and Māori descent (Ngā Mahanga a Tairi), Paul grew up on the south-west coast of the North Island in Aotearoa / New Zealand, before emigrating to the UK in his late 20s. He is a regular surfer, trail runner and travel enthusiast.
