Ann Bird

Ann Bird

Uses her experience as a top journalist to inspire children to become big news and stay safe online!

Ann shows how any child can achieve great things by taking them on her journey from launching her school magazine to becoming Executive Features Editor on the Daily Express.

They'll hear about reporting under gunfire, summiting three of the world's highest mountains, plus her bizarre interview with Dannii Minogue, and discover how they too can turn their dreams into reality.

As a mum, school governor and founder of AB Business Training, Ann is passionate about education and, as well as giving talks, can engage pupils through any of the following:

• Journalism exercises e.g. news-writing and mock press conferences
• Career clinics
• Fun Q&A sessions
• Feedback clinics on school magazines

Ann has also written columns for the newspaper SportFirst and has had the opportunity to interview many medalists and attendees at the Sydney Olympics as well as being a marathon runner and triathlete herself - although not professionally!

Internet safety talks/workshops

With huge experience as a communications expert and Childline Schools Service workshop presenter, Ann can also run workshops and talks for parents or their children to help them make sense of essential digital issues, such as online safety, internet privacy and cyber security. Typically these can include:

  • How do you set boundaries?
  • What are the risks children face?
  • How do you deal with cyberbullying, sexting and online grooming?
  • What tools are available to help parents and children?
  • How can families work together to stay safe?
