In 2006, as an out of control, obese, heavy drinking Type 1 Diabetic, doctors gave Kev the ultimatum - to change or face the consequences. It was time to stop hiding, ‘man up’ and face the challenge head on.
Kev had tried to change many times but had consistently failed. Reluctantly, after a recommendation from a friend, Kev started reading some of that ‘airy fairy positivity stuff’ and was shocked at the results when he put the ideas into practice!
Some thought Kev (and that included Kev!) had lost his marbles when he announced that he was going to run in the New York City Marathon in November 2007. He completed what was a truly life-changing experience.
Kev’s never looked back. The benefits are incredible: more energy, improved mood and excellent diabetic control, flourishing professionally, and most importantly for Kev, he can now get into Topman skinny jeans!
Kev is inspiring children and adults through keynote speaking, workshops and one-on-ones to take control and manage their own minds, develop self-awareness, grit and most importantly, self-love!
Kev’s history is a case study in positivity, goal-setting, and personal responsibility.
"It went very well, he was excellent as always!"– Matthew Smith, School Business Manager, Sheringham Woodfields School
"Kevin is an outstanding, energetic and talented speaker. He has a natural and unique ability to captivate an audience and really compel them to listen. All delivered with a fantastic sense of humour. I had the great fortune of hearing him speak at the Inspire London conference at Google this month and was blown away. Kevin is on a mission to make people realise they can choose to be happy - positivity is a choice - we can all become great leaders by adopting this philosophy. Book him up now!"– Catherine Peacock, Account Director, CHI & Partners
“…he adjusted the delivering of his messages to make it relevant to the challenges faced in each area and made it clear to each individual the part they can play… all delivered with punch and energy… we saw a step change in their thinking. He brings a great energy to a room and is lively and assured in his delivery.”– Regional Manager, BskyB
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the inset day morning you delivered for us on Monday. The feedback on the evaluations has been really positive and a great way to motivate everyone for the start of the New Year.”– Jess McClelland, STEP coordinator
“Thanks for so much for today! It has inspired me and gave me so much confidence as to what I can do to overcome fear and get the best I can achieve. Today was really helpful and I wish it could happen again.”– Connor, Year 11 Pupil
“…thank you so much for the sessions you delivered on Wednesday. They were fantastically engaging, interactive and active! The staff have gleaned a huge amount from your sessions and we will be endeavouring to embed the concepts and tips in future team meetings and in how we work in general… I wonder if it’s ever possible to have a service full of 2%ers…….it’s certainly an aspiration!”– Kenneth Brown, Leeds Community NHS Healthcare Trust
“Thank you so much for taking the time to join us at Inspire last week – everyone absolutely loved your session! I had a few of my team there and they all highlighted your session as one of their favourites!! You’re a fabulous presenter – very engaging and with a great message to talk about. I’m trying hard to make sure I’m in that 2%! I’m going to recommend you as one of the speakers for our Sainsbury’s Marketing Excellence as I know the whole team here would love to hear from you.”– Sarah Ellis, Founder: Inspire, London
“Thank you again for a great day yesterday. I have to admit, it isn't often I come home so energised and motivated after a training day!! Already putting some of your tips into practice!!”– Skipton Schools’ Conference Delegate
“Kev, just a note to say thank you very much for yesterday’s excellent session on managing and leading change. The feedback from attendees has been extremely positive and the session seems to have been just what the doctor ordered. We learnt a lot about how we think and function + how we can take control of how we feel and act, both personally and when leading others. It was an inspirational session and has provided a much needed boost to those who attended. Many thanks indeed”– Ian Oldershaw, Head of Place Strategy Team, Sheffield Council
“Kev helped us to stage our annual Sales Kick Off meeting and we were thrilled with what he brought to the event. The fact that Kev invested a good amount of time with both myself and my team in order to get a feel for our business as well as understanding our objectives really paid dividends. The feedback from our session was incredibly positive and it is clear that Kev created some profound reflection and self-analysis from a diverse cross-section of my teams’ demographic mix. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage Kev again and happily recommend him to others looking for someone who challenges people’s self-perception through some gently introduced home truths”.– David Poole, Managing Director UK Sales, FedEx Express Europe
“Kevin House managed to combine life experience/humour/psychological theories/fun and the unique ability to engage a room of strangers in his story. The resulting output from this was an exciting revelation of the power of one’s mind over every decision we make in our life. …Kevin was engaging and believable which is so important, the team are telling their colleagues, as am I and I cannot thank Kevin enough for delivering such a great team development session”.– Benjamin Foxcroft, Cluster General Manager East London, Premier Inn
"Kevin absolutely hit the spot with his talk - he was funny, totally engaging and although as a staff we couldn't all be together you could hear laughter and chatting coming from all the classes. It was hard to know what everyone was thinking as we couldn't see everyone but at the end all the classes took themselves off mute and there was a spontaneous round of applause from all our bubbles across school. People are still talking about being 2%ers, mood hoovers and wearing their special pants - a sure indication that they were listening and loved it!"– Sue Martin, School Business Manager, Fred Nicholson School
