Tom Sherrington

Great teaching: inspiration and informed wisdom for real classrooms

Tom Sherrington is a highly regarded education consultant and CPD provider with 30 years experience working as a teacher and headteacher in a wide range of schools in England and overseas. He writes the well-known blog teacherhead.com and is a regular contributor to ResearchEd events, the Festival of Education and other large conferences. He is able to inspire, inform and challenge his audiences, combining ideas from educational research and the latest thinking of leading practitioners with his detailed knowledge of the workings of real classrooms with examples from across the curriculum.

Tom is a founding trustee of the National Baccalaureate Trust and a member of the influential Headteachers' Roundtable think tank. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his work across primary, secondary and FE settings that he can use to tailor his talks and CPD to the needs of any institution.

If you need someone to give your staff a sense of optimism about the future, providing inspiration for their professional development or if you need something more technical about assessment and curriculum design, Tom can provide that for you. If you are looking to develop your thinking around a Baccalaureate-style curriculum model, Tom has the expertise and experience to support you. Very often people ask him to talk about strategies for stretching and challenging young people; with his experience of working in different schools, Tom has a wealth of ideas to share.

Tom has recently published a book named 'Rosenshine's Principles in Action' which is listed in the top 100 of all books - even reaching 17 at one point - and selling 10,000 copies in the first month!
