Jo Morton-Brown

Supporting Stressed Students - Re-assuring students it’s OK not to be OK!

Jo’s presentations are optimistic, humorous and always from the heart. Combining her academic knowledge with first-hand experience, she is a passionate and committed advocate for the improvement of mental health in children and young people. Jo's desire is to inspire children and young people to be the best they can be.

Jo is an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a warm, friendly, approachable personality. She is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, and has years of experience delivering one-to-one and group counselling to children and young people.

When invited into schools, Jo is able to run interactive workshops, presentations or assemblies exploring issues around metal health and emotional wellbeing. Allowing students to realise that 'it's ok not to be ok' is central to her work. Even though students feel that they cannot talk about the ‘f’ word (failure), she encourages them to realise their unique potential and empowers them to do so.

Not only does Jo work with students, but she is also skilled in training professionals who work with children and young adults. Through interactive CPD sessions and INSET days, she supports their study of the mental health issues affecting young people. Jo is also a qualified Youth Mental Health First Aider instructor and travels the county to deliver training to schools and organisations with the one or two-day MHFA training courses (details available on request).

There is ample research to support the fact that some – if not many – of today's generation of young people are unable to cope with modern-day stresses. Having worked with hundreds of children and young people aged from four to 18, Jo has the expertise to connect with this audience with her empathic, authentic approach.

Jo’s goal is to help every student become the best versions of themselves they can be. Whether you’re looking for someone to enthuse, motivate and raise aspirations amongst the students in your school, or need an experienced authority to explain to children and young people in a professional, empathetic, calm manner exactly what mental health is, then Jo is the speaker you need.
