12-year-old Jeriah Boateng is a rising star in both football and literature. A talented attacking forward for Brighton & Hove Albion’s academy since the age of 7, Jeriah brings passion, creativity, and leadership to every match. Off the pitch, he has become a powerful young voice through storytelling .
Following a personal experience of racism in his school canteen, Jeriah wrote Back in Time, a story that explores injustice, courage, and hope. His writing struck a chord and earned him the Premier League Academy Young Writer of the Year Award for the 2023/2024 season. As part of his prize, the Premier League Trophy was brought to his school in a special celebratory visit. The award-winning story became his debut published book, now available on Amazon. It has sold over 650 copies worldwide, reaching readers in countries such as Japan and Canada.
Motivated to help others share their stories, Jeriah launched his own
publishing house, Legacy Line Publishers. His goal is to support other young
authors while continuing to write more books of his own. His work highlights
the challenges young players face, especially around racism, and encourages
resilience, confidence, and purpose.
Jeriah has appeared live on ITV London and was featured in a special
mini-documentary on ITV Meridian. Most recently, he was invited to interview
ex-England Manager Sir Gareth Southgate in front of 1,500 people at Penguin
Presents at the Royal Festival Hall. The event marked the upcoming release of
Southgate’s new book, Dear England: Lessons on Leadership.
