Jamie Gane

Jamie Gane

Inspiring others through sharing his own story of perseverance

Jamie is a world-renowned adaptive athlete based in Basingstoke, UK, achieving the top ranking in global Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) and previously holding the number two spot in Judo. He competes internationally in both disciplines, showcasing his exceptional ability in Judo against able-bodied athletes without using a prosthetic leg. In addition to this, Jamie also works as a teacher, teaching Maths to students of all ages.

Beyond pushing boundaries in athletics, Jamie is a passionate motivational speaker and an advocate and role model for the LGBTQ+ community. His inspiring journey demonstrates resilience and determination. He has delivered captivating speeches at Buckingham Palace for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and numerous schools and organizations.

Jamie's journey began at the age of nine when chronic pain confined him to a wheelchair by twelve. Unable to use his right foot due to constant pain, he fought tirelessly for six years to convince doctors to perform a life-changing amputation at sixteen. This decision empowered him to reclaim his mobility, walking for the first time in 14 years and soon after, embracing running.

Since his surgery, Jamie has become an unstoppable force in the OCR world, conquering over 100 Tough Mudder events, including the grueling 24-hour World's Toughest Mudder. His unwavering spirit and dedication to defying limitations continue to inspire countless individuals.
