Ben Anderson

Ben Anderson

Achieved his dream of producing a Capital FM Breakfast Show at the age of 21, went on to become a Managing Editor for three Capital FM stations before starting his own production company, Sound Rebel.

Previous to becoming a breakfast show producer, Ben presented his own weekend radio show on Capital Birmingham. He got his break through the activities he did while at university; running the student radio station at Warwick University, doing work experience at Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC WM and winning a number of Student Radio Awards.

Ben speaks about how anyone can achieve their dream career if they work hard enough, and particularly about the importance of work experience. His stories from the radio industry especially engage young audiences, from interviewing some of the world's biggest music stars to ridiculous charity stunts - he definitely won't try to hitchhike back from Madrid to Birmingham again!

Ben also speaks about the challenges of going from working for the biggest commercial radio group in Europe to going it alone and starting your own business.

Testimonials from Teachers

"He was great. He was very flexible to our needs (rubbish IT!) and the kids loved him."

– Claire Haigh, Prescot School

"Ben speaks with an enthusiastic and engaging style, finding common ground with current students who are keen to follow in his footsteps. He uses humour well and his talks have included entertaining anecdotes to illustrate his messages, as well as helpful industry insights. We are looking forward to welcoming Ben back to Warwick and would be happy to recommend him as a speaker."

– Stephanie Redding, Senior Careers Consultant, The University of Warwick

"On behalf of the Castle Vale Business Group members I would like to formally thank Ben for speaking at our recent meeting. His presentation was professionally delivered, well thought-out and interspersed with anecdotes and 'real life' studies making it an interesting, engaging and humorous half hour that was well received by the members."

– John Lewis, Chairman, Castle Vale Business Group

"Ben visited our school as a key note speaker for our awards evening. He delivered an inspiring, stimulating and motivational speech about what it takes to achieve those all important goals and the different kinds of routes to success. Ben’s confident manner and tales about his life in the radio and music industry captivated and entertained the audience. Thanks to Ben’s contribution, the event was a huge success and the students, parents and staff were impressed by both the content and delivery."

– Glyn Langston-Jones, Vice Principal, Ash Green School, Coventry

"Ben has joined us as our key note speaker for our last two Y11-leavers Certificate Presentation Evenings. I found him to be thoroughly professional and reliable throughout, keeping in regular contact about the arrangements and arriving in plenty of time to run through the specific requirements of the evening. Ben helped us to award the certificates, and gave a 15 minute presentation about his experiences in the radio industry. Ben’s presentation was interesting, motivational and witty. It was pacey and kept to the agreed timings. The audience were receptive to Ben’s presentation and showed their appreciation at the end. I look forward to working with Ben again in the future."

– Gary Lloyd, Assistant Principal, Academy Partnerships and Events: The Rugeley Academies
