Amanda started her first business ‘Fancie’ from her kitchen table in 2008, armed with nothing but a domestic mixer, a book of recipes and a blank refusal to listen to the word ‘no’. She believed in her idea and nothing was going to stop her!
As a child Amanda had a passion for baking and as she grew older she knew that she wanted to turn this great love of cake into her career. After forging a career as a pastry chef, she founded ‘Fancie’ - a company known and loved for it’s delicious cakes and cupcakes.
She grew this business from her kitchen table to a chain of 7 shops, 70 staff and turning over a million pounds. Life as an entrepreneur has many challenges and the fast growth of the business led to difficult times.Sadly Fancie stopped trading and Amanda lost it all.
Not one to be beaten though, her entrepreneurial drive, grit and determination saw her start a new online retail business ‘Bakes Box’.Bakes Box is now listed in high end stockist such as Fenwicks, Selfridges and John Lewis and thousand of consumers enjoy her monthly baking box subscription online.
In addition she runs a successful agency coaching and mentoring businesses in growth and marketing and is a mentor for The Prince’s Trust.
Her determination and ‘bouncebackability’ is something often talked about in business - hear from Amanda first-hand about the difficult times, how she overcame them and is now back on the road to success again. Yes failure happens but it’s how you deal with it, and move forward, which is the real making of successful people.
