Stuart Myers

Born without arms, Stuart provides an inspirational look at what can be achieved against the odds.

Stuart will interact with the audience, and not only invite questions, but will challenge students to think about their life choices in a whole new way. Stuart’s overall 'AIM' is simple: to raise Aspirations, provide Inspiration, and to create Motivation amongst everyone he meets!

Stuart Myers was born on 12th February 1982. Unexpectedly, Stuart was born with no arms and the story began right there in the hospital delivery room in Middlesbrough. Over thirty years later, Stuart now explores his life so far in his own unique, humorous, thought provoking and inspirational style.

Stuart will take you on the journey he has experienced in both his personal life, and also his professional career. Stuart will explain how he has defied the odds and progressed from being an office trainee to a local government manager. Stuart will also cover his additional current roles, including a charity trustee, school governor and judicial office holder.

Stuart is a fine example of how you can reach your goals, even when facing adversity and uncertainty. It also becomes clear that Stuart credits the unwavering support of his family and teachers as main drivers to achieving his success so far.

Stuart also delivers talks in the following:

  • Mental Health and Well-Being
  • Employability and Volunteering
  • Managing Your Money

Testimonials from Teachers

"It went really well! A lovely guy with such a great story to tell! Kids were really engaged throughout!"

– Mr Lewis Southall, Teacher of English, Northern Education Trust, Manor Academy

"Stuart was fantastic. He gave a wonderful talk to our parents, pupils and staff who were all humbled and inspired by his words. Stuart was a brilliant guest and took the time to speak personally with members of our school community after the event. I am delighted that we decided to book him and will recommend him highly to other schools and colleges in Dukes Education. Thank you for your help and support with our prize-giving event!"

– John Wilson, Co-Head, Eaton Square Mayfair

"Stuart was absolutely fantastic, he had a standing ovation from our students. He is a gem!"

– Bobbie Roberts, Chair of Trustees, Doncaster Deaf Trust

"Stuart's visit was absolutely excellent! Staff and children both got so much from meeting him and listening to his story and speech in assembly. There were a few glassy-eyed teachers in the audience and most of the children were completely awestruck. Even our youngest children listened attentively for 30 minutes! Stuart's visit prompted some really healthy discussion around disabilities and accessibility and for our youngest children, many were able to take away the message of "having a go" at something - even if you don't end up being good at something, at least you tried. Wonderful, professional and warm - I can't speak highly enough of Stuart. Numerous members of staff caught me later in the day to say what an inspiration he is and how grateful they were to have heard him speak."

– Yvonne Rowley, Early Years Foundation Stage Leader, Coleham Primary School

"Stuart was brilliant! The feedback from the delegates was great. Some of the comments were: “inspirational”, “warm and open” and “exciting speaker with a can-do attitude”. We were really pleased he kicked off the day for us and would recommend him to others."

– Theresa Humphreys, Fusion TSA, Tablot Specialist School
