Leading the way on and off the football pitch

Despite coming from a single parent, low income background Sean has proven through hard work & determination, desire and attitude that achieving your goals is within your reach.

Sean has enjoyed a successful football career which began cleaning boots as a YTS apprentice for Darlington. With grass roots in the North East, Sean witnessed tough economic times in his home town and recognised that in order to have a better life he needed to work hard and focus on the 3Ds – drive, determination and dedication.

At a young age his talent was spotted and his first big career break arrived, as he was selected to play in the first team for Darlington F.C. Over 21 years his career has flourished spanning 6 clubs. He has played over 750 games in 21 seasons. His dedication and leadership have gained him respect from colleagues & fans alike. Having played with top sportsmen such as Ryan Giggs and David Beckham, Sean provides insight into the real world of football.

Playing in all divisions with a loyal & dedicated approach to his team resulted in him captaining every club he has played for. Sean shares with students the key attributes of a good leader and how they can apply these skills to any workplace.
