Romain Muhammad is an award-winning People, Culture & Inclusion leader, keynote speaker, leadership coach, author and consultant whose work sits at the intersection of fear, identity, confidence and human behaviour.

He is the founder of Room to Lead™, a leadership, learning & development and organisational culture consultancy that starts with human behaviour. Before launching Room to Lead, Romain founded, scaled and exited a global recruitment agency and diversity consultancy, partnering with more than 100 organisations across technology, finance, government and education. That commercial and operational track record now underpins his work with schools, colleges and organisations on confidence, behaviour and performance in a changing world.

With over 15 years' experience across recruitment, leadership development and organisational culture, Romain has coached thousands of people across industries, sectors and continents. Drawing on psychology, sociology, history and lived experience, including growing up in a mixed-identity family in an underprivileged part of London, he helps young people make sense of the world, and their place within it, combining research and real-world application with honesty, energy and heart.

Romain is also a writer and social commentator, widely recognised for his expertise in identity, culture, equity and social systems, including anti-racism, class and social mobility, and diaspora and migration. His insights on race, culture and the future of work have shaped conversations across industries and featured in national media. He grew his social media following from 1,700 to 60,000 in a few months through historical and social commentary storytelling, a demonstration of his ability to connect with diverse audiences through compelling narrative.

Alongside his professional practice, Romain conducts postgraduate research at Birkbeck, University of London, and is a Research Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. His academic grounding deepens his work with young people navigating questions of identity, belonging and future decision-making. He is the author of What Are You So Afraid Of?, a book exploring fear, confidence and the psychology of performance, and his work has reached organisations including Yale University, the BBC and the NHS, alongside schools and colleges across the UK.
