Mark Wingfield

Empowering Resilience in young people to handle Bullying, Fear & Life

As a small teenager Mark experienced a series of nasty bullying situations at school. He decided not to be a victim and take control.

He tells his early life story and the challenges he overcame to help MPowerTM others and equip them with the tools and resilience to do the same, whatever their environment. He works in junior, secondary, special schools and PRUs as well as colleges and universities. Other clients include Barnado’s, the Prince’s Trust, Chelsea FC and many other football clubs and academies, the Modern Slavery charity Unseen, the Salvation Army, the Safe and Sound Group, mencap, Scope, Contact, Shine, MIND and the Prison Service.

A multiple black belt, and trauma therapist, he is a specialist in handling fear and personal safety for all ages. He can provide experiential workshops to immediately consolidate the learning from his talk to enable young people to be able to handle whatever life throws at them. He always provides self-protection techniques so that individuals don’t have to fight, but he can also deliver actual self-defence techniques.

Students will leave his talk having learnt simple, highly effective techniques to MPowerTM their own resilience. They can learn very quickly how to keep their cool and be able to think under severe pressure, keep predators and bullies at a safe distance and how to use brilliant ADT calming techniques to physically lose the emotional stress associated with past or future events.

Since 2009 Mark has been working to help eradicate Child Sexual Exploitation, grooming and sexting with the Safe and Sound Group. He has been delivering talks and workshops to raise awareness and provide practical strategies to MPower™ individuals to know what to do and how to respond to human trafficking and modern slavery. His sessions provide practical advice that doesn’t endanger individuals further and young people can learn safely about county lines, cuckooing - how to help themselves and others who might be at risk.

– Lucy Oliver, CAF Co-ordinator/Interventions, Adelaide School

"Thank you very much for delivering the ‘Fear to Confidence’ workshop for our year 4 and year 6 children on Thursday 22nd November. The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and it was very evident, through discussions with the children, that they had learnt a range of strategies that would help them deal with bullying. Many of the children commented enthusiastically on the role play activities and the high level of interaction that the workshops involved. Staff and pupils have already asked me if we can invite you back in next year! Your session has really helped us to move on in this area."

– Sarah Briggs, Headteacher, Sale and Davys
