Mark Wingfield

Developing strategies for assertiveness and anti-bullying

Mark is highly experienced in empowering young people to take back control in their lives and handle their biggest challenges. He speaks primarily on anti-bullying, assertiveness and resilience to large and small audience groups. With clients in education across state and independent schools (top performers and turnaround situations), Mark always adapts and delivers something practical and useful, whatever the environment.

Asked to speak to schoolchildren to inspire them to continue with languages as he had done in his own career in export sales and marketing - Mark has been speaking in schools, colleges and universities since 2007. Mark was nominated for the National Ambassador Award for his work as a Business Language Champion in 2009. Really enjoying working with young people, he developed new and engaging inspirational messages about careers and learning – bringing together his unique experiences and take on lifeskills with assertiveness training and self-protection. He was a National Finalist at Speaker Factor 2014 with his talk on “Assertiveness and Survival in the Concrete Jungle” which blended his own experiences of aggression at school with practical tips on how to control such situations.

Mark runs a highly successful conflict management business and alongside his corporate clients loves working with all school ages - from those graduating from infant to junior to the new Year 7s, tweens and insecure and immature teenagers. His experience includes working with various SEN, survivors of CSE and domestic violence, Football Foundations including Chelsea FC, the Prince’s Trust, the YMCA, PRUs and HMYOI. On Ian Wright’s TV series "Football behind Bars" he successfully taught young men (serving sentences for violence) effective self-control techniques.

His watchword is practical. He strives to “MPower” his audiences to be able to take something from his talks and be able to apply it immediately. It might be a sudden light bulb moment of understanding that suddenly burns brilliantly bright or a simple but powerful technique that everyone can use to stay calm under pressure. If you want your children to be inspired to achieve their full potential, to be resilient and receive an immediate boost in confidence, book Mark.

Testimonials from Teachers

"The students enjoyed it I am just observing the students at the moment to measure impact"

– Racheal Booth, Northumberland College Careers College

"I’d like to say a big thank you Mark, that’s the best that these boys have ever ever listened for 40 minutes so it was very very interesting and really beneficial".

– Lucy Oliver, CAF Co-ordinator/Interventions, Adelaide School

"Thank you very much for delivering the ‘Fear to Confidence’ workshop for our year 4 and year 6 children on Thursday 22nd November. The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and it was very evident, through discussions with the children, that they had learnt a range of strategies that would help them deal with bullying. Many of the children commented enthusiastically on the role play activities and the high level of interaction that the workshops involved. Staff and pupils have already asked me if we can invite you back in next year! Your session has really helped us to move on in this area."

– Sarah Briggs, Headteacher, Sale and Davys

"We will want to book you again for Anti-Bullying week!"

– Ren Stretton, School Office Manager, St. Charles Catholic School
