Katrice Horsley

Exploring and sharing how we are shaped through stories, and how we have the power to shape the stories we want to live and tell

Katrice Horsley started life as a selective mute and went on to become the National Storytelling Laureate of the UK, performing and telling stories around the world.

She has a background in child development and child play and is passionate about the power that stories have in helping children develop language and try on new identities. She has worked and delivered training and performances in a range of settings and countries, from refugee camps in Palestine to corporate boardrooms in Denmark.

Her playful and interactive presentations enable people and children to be fully engaged and take ownership of the performances and stories that she shares. Her training style is similar and through it she enables people to safely step outside their comfort zones in order to grow and develop.

She is published by Routledge and wrote an award winning bereavement resource for the British Heart Foundation and is currently working on her new book that is all about her work.

Testimonials from Teachers

Katrice has delivered several individually tailored Communication workshops for Early Years teachers, practitioners and parents here in Essex as part of the Every Child a Talker Initiative. The feedback received from the delegates reflected the inspirational impact of Katrice's training and her approaches and strategies continue to be embedded within early years daily provision.

– Sian Ansell, Early Language and Communication Adviser

Katrice has been a fabulous inspiration to both school leaders and children across Liverpool. Fabulous keynote and in-school practitioner. Always inspires with her energy and enthusiasm for life and education.

– Meryl Sangare, School Improvments Officer, Liverpool City Council

I have worked with Katrice repeatedly, in different assignments, with different conditions, with widely differing participants. She has always given impact and results! Regardless of the assignment, Katrice meets the participants where they are, and creates movement. Not only by her unique way of inspiring, motivating and engaging but also by carefully leading the participants from a current situation to a new situation. Katrice and Narrative4Change make a difference.
