Andy Stone is an engaging ADHD speaker, trainer and peer mentor who combines lived experience with evidence-informed learning to help teachers better understand the neurodivergent pupils in their classrooms.
Having experienced significant challenges within the education system himself, Andy brings a perspective that goes beyond textbooks and theory. He openly shares his journey through school struggles, addiction and recovery, before learning to understand and work with his ADHD and ultimately becoming a Guinness World Record holder in triathlon.
His training, “The Science of ADHD & Adaptive Classroom Strategies to Support Neurodivergent Learners,” helps educators understand why pupils with ADHD may think, learn, regulate emotions and behave differently. Andy explores ADHD brain development, executive functioning, sensory processing, dopamine and motivation, emotional regulation, stress and the nervous system, alongside the strengths that can come with neurodivergent thinking.
Crucially, Andy turns this understanding into practical classroom strategies. Teachers learn approaches to reduce cognitive and sensory overload, support executive functioning, increase motivation and engagement, build trust and respond to behaviour with greater curiosity rather than judgement. Strategies include movement breaks, visual supports, predictable routines and ADHD-friendly classroom adaptations.
Andy’s combination of science, lived experience, humour and honesty makes complex subjects relatable and memorable. Feedback from educators describes his sessions as “inspiring,” “engaging” and empowering, with staff reporting greater empathy and confidence in supporting pupils with ADHD.
His aim is simple: when teachers better understand what is happening behind the behaviour, they can change how they respond — helping neurodivergent pupils feel understood, supported and able to fulfil their potential.
