Kay's infectious energy can engage any audience no matter how close it is to lunch break!
His passion for understanding human connections and communities means he immerses himself into different cultures to understand their inner workings, from Ethiopia to Stockholm to the UK. He then uses photography, film and spoken word to communicate his findings.
Born in Britain, and later raised in Nigeria and America, Kay identifies as a citizen of the world. Through these diverse experiences, he has the ability to connect with anyone in the room who feels like an outsider.
His ambition is to use varying methods of self-expression to inspire, motivate, emancipate, educate and ultimately bring smiles to people irrespective of background, colour, religion, ethnicity, culture, gender, ability and geographical confines.
However, it wasn't always so easy for Kay. Moving schools left him feeling very displaced as a teenager and he struggled to fit in with the crowd. Experiencing conflict with classmates, he found himself in a confusing position where he was unsure if he was being bullied or he was the bully. His Self-Esteem class explores this faultlessly, stripping away the labels of victim and perpetrator, teaching students we all have the capacity to be both and exploring ways to build confidence by commanding your own power rather than waiting to be empowered by others.
Kay now travels the UK's schools with The Self-Esteem Team, delivering talks on Self-Esteem, Mental Health, Body Image, and Exam Stress & Anxiety. He also works in prisons; helping inmates to challenge their status quo and find their identity.
"He's always a hit with even the coolest of customers and most hard to reach students."
"He was brilliant with our children and they were all hanging off his every word. They all got masses out of his visit and we are very grateful to have had him with us."
"93% of the pupils found the sessions with Kay ‘very useful/useful’ which is a remarkably high number!"
