Kate started her business, PSHE education, in 2013. Having had the pleasure of working with many wonderful children, teenagers and their teachers, parents and carers she couldn’t be happier. She adores her job more than ever and continues to explore new ways of getting PSHE to as many people as possible.
With over a decade’s experience as a class teacher and PSHE lead, and on completion of a one year post graduate research module in PSHE, Kate began to realise that PSHE may never get the recognition in the curriculum it deserved. She got to a point where she grew bored of hearing herself wish children had more opportunities to learn about subjects that matter to them - themselves, their friends, their families. Kate made a decision to walk away from her secure job and teach all things PSHE independently, despite most people around her telling her she was mad!
With a huge amount of determination and hard work Kate grew her business - PSHE education – an educational service offered to people of all ages across the UK to equip them to deal with the modern world.
Four years on, having had the pleasure of working with many wonderful children, teenagers and their teachers, parents and carers Kate couldn’t be happier. She adores her job more than ever and continues to explore new ways of getting PSHE to as many people as possible whether it be through her sessions with pupils, teachers and parents, speaking at conferences, supporting schools and organisations through her consultancy work or through her feature, content and fiction writing.
As a former UPS class teacher with over a decade’s experience, Kate understands children and the education system, and knows what issues arise when teaching PSHE in a busy, target driven environment.
She speaks and teaches sessions direct to children, teenagers and parents from KS1-KS5 alongside KS1-KS5 staff where she offers CPD and teacher training sessions both in house and at teacher conferences across the UK.
"Kate has an approachable and re-assuring manner with the pupils, which gains their trust. She is engaging and motivating. She makes them feel comfortable and they become involved and active participants in sessions, without embarrassment. Pupils really appreciate the opportunities they have to discuss and reflect, whilst being able to maintain confidentiality. Any teachers and parents involved in any sessions have also been impressed and pleased with the outcomes."– Angela Alsop, Deputy Head Teacher, Skippers Hill Prep' School
"Kate delivered a superb address on the subject of: Teaching Sex and Relationship Education in the Secondary School. She did it with great enthusiasm and good humour and brought an air of authority to this area which many people find difficult to teach. She laid down several helpful ground rules for discussions with pupils and her knowledge of legislation and current developments was particularly impressive. The delegates found it a very useful session."– Stephen Coyne, HMC Director & Independent Consultant
"Kate is professional and organised throughout. Her sessions are informative, well researched and engaging."– Fiona Parsons, Assistant Head Pastoral, The King Alfred School
