Jackie Handy is a well respected, successful businesswomen who travels internationally and supports global brands in developing their workforce. Using her 25 year career in recruitment, sales and leadership roles she actively promotes leading from the inside out and focuses as much on personal development as on corporate development.
But life hasn't always been easy for her. From 5 years old, Jackie was bullied for her differences. Firstly for her minor disability, then for her religious beliefs and finally in her teens, for her sexual orientation. Yet still Jackie believes she was one of the lucky ones who made it through to adulthood and the boardroom.
Her talk doesn't only share her personal story, but importantly educates on how bullying feels from the perspective of being bullied and observing bullying and saying nothing. Her messages resonate with everyone and links to mental health & wellbeing
She highlights the differences between diversity & inclusion, and stresses the fact the inclusion is not just for minority groups. Straightforward, relatable and simple steps that we can all take to ensure we create the inclusive society we all want to be a part of. Jackie inspires audiences with her story and leaves them with understanding as well as specific actions to take to make a difference.
Jackie Handy has supported hundreds of individuals in numerous organisations around the world in accelerating performance. Formerly a top performing Recruitment Consultant and Manager for 2 decades, she now works with others to give back the recipe for sales and leadership success as well as actively promoting the D&I agenda. Through her corporate speaking, training and consultancy work, as well as her own personal development journey, Jackie has developed a deeper understanding of human behaviour and why we do what we do. She has invested extensively in her own development, which has included psychometric profiling tools (MBTI), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and even LEGO ® SERIOUS PLAY®. She believes in doing what you do wholeheartedly or not at all and also that laughter and fun are fundamental to the journey of fulfilment.
"If I had to sum Jackie up I would say an amazing person who really wants the best for you in the best way possible. An absolutely wonderful person. I recently saw Jackie speak about Inclusion and her wonderfully delivered, thought provoking and compelling message still resonates with me. If you get the chance to see Jackie speak, you will not be disappointed. But what amazed me more, is if you spend any time with her you realise how utterly genuine she is and how much she has to give. She is a joy to be around."
"It is difficult to explain just how good her talk was...but I'll try. From the moment Jackie first spoke, the audience were spellbound. I looked around to see if my intuition was correct, and will all eyes intently focussed on Jackie, I knew she had drawn everyone in - we had definitely selected a winner. With the exception of the planned humour (where we all clearly laughed), you could've heard a pin drop in the audience - we were transfixed. Her message was absolutely on point, but what really made this talk special for me, is how Jackie delivered it. You could see there were some key moments in her talk that she wanted to make sure you took away, and she cleverly used the motion of her body, and her voice to convey this. Whether it was a slow step forward, a look towards the ground with a pause, or a change in rhythm and pitch of her voice, she made sure that everyone knew when those key points were. Her talk was absolutely outstanding, and as such she received the only standing ovation of the day."– Capt. Lindsay Thorburn, Senior Network Engineer, Executive Director at TEDx Telford
