Grace Lynskey

Inspiring ambitious humans who refuse to let their setbacks limit their lives

Grace Lynskey is a social entrepreneur and inspirational speaker on resilience, overcoming setbacks and adopting an unstoppable mindset. In May 2019, Grace lost her beloved twin brother, Jim at the age of just 23 following 6 years of health decline awaiting a heart transplant. She now uses his story along with her own experiences to inspire students that even the most difficult setbacks can be overcome.

Between the ages of 17 - 23, Grace's twin brother and best friend, Jim encountered multiple setbacks regarding his heart. A cardiac arrest at 17, chronic heart failure at 19 and a mechanical heart pump at 22 meant he was the youngest person in Europe to live with his condition. It was in response to this that Jim started his own campaign to raise awareness of organ donation called ‘Save9lives.’ Jim tragically passed away at the age of just 23, but through his work, managed to make a greater impact on the world than most people do in a lifetime. Grace’s talk conveys how both her and Jim managed to deal with immense emotional setbacks whilst continuing to achieve success, impact and societal change despite limitations.

Grace works as an inspiration speaker across schools, universities and organisations inspiring audiences on how to respond to setbacks and adversity, regain motivation and develop resilience. Her recent work has included Alcester Grammar Sixth Form, Selfridges Bullring Store and the British Heart Foundation Annual Executives Conference. Grace has appeared on BBC Breakfast and the BBC Sounds Podcast 'First' speaking on the topic of grief and loss. She has founded her own social enterprise, The Empowerment Project - a platform hosting transformational events for corporates, higher education and the community.

Testimonials from Teachers

Grace delivered an assembly to 250 year 13 students with the clarity and confidence of someone with years of experience. What Grace talked about was inspiring for everyone listening as she focused on all the positives that have come from Jim’s life and the good work that continues as a result. Grace ensured that the students left with a message that they could relate to and that would encourage them to make the most of their opportunities in life. She absolutely got the message right.
