Adam Bradford

Queen's Young Leader, social entrepreneur and youth campaigner who set up his first business aged 14 and has travelled to over 40 countries

Adam Bradford, 26, is a social entrepreneur and youth campaigner originally from Sheffield. Aged 12 he was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism and has run campaigns and workshops in schools to raise awareness of the condition. When he was 14 he was suffering with his school work and decided to enter the Big Challenge enterprise competition, putting his computer skills to work and fixing computers for teachers. He won the competition twice and took home £10,000 worth of prizes. He quickly gained a place at Dragon's Den star Peter Jones' Enterprise Academy and became a National Ambassador for Peter's Foundation, speaking at schools and colleges across the country and on national television about youth entrepreneurship. Adam also spoke at the MADE Festival in Sheffield alongside then Business Secretary Vince Cable MP and Peter Jones himself. Levi Roots, from Reggae Reggae Sauce, offered to mentor Adam and has become a lifelong friend. Adam's business which now runs campaigns with young people all across the world, has worked with the likes of Google through to the University of Australia.

In 2014, Adam's family encountered a bombshell. His father David was suddenly sent to prison for two years. He served a sentence for stealing money from his employers to fund an out of control gambling addiction. His dad kept the addiction secret from his family to try and protect them but in the end he could not. He remortgaged the house and ended up leaving huge debts behind, which Adam had to shoulder aged 21. With nobody else in the family to fight, Adam took the reins and also launched a national campaign to highlight gambling addiction which has gained support from the Prime Minister, all political parties and the NHS. In 2018 the family changed the law in Britain to ensure people could not spend as much money at once gambling and helped bring about more investment in gambling addiction support.

Adam's work led to him becoming a Queen's Young Leader in 2016. He received a special award from the Queen and met Prince Harry at the awards ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Adam also serves as a Board Advisor to the Queen's Commonwealth Trust, of whom Prince Harry is the President. He is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society and writes for the Guardian, Independent and Huffington Post. He regularly speaks to Sky News on youth and youth politics issues and is a columnist for various other newspapers.

In 2017 he completed a World Tour, speaking to young people in schools and colleges across Africa, Indonesia, South America, the USA and Europe inspiring them through social entrepreneurship. He also spoke at Epsom College for a TEDx Talk in 2013 on how young people can defy statistics to get ahead in their careers.
